New Thought

November 11, 2007

This page is merely intended to be as title suggests, a blog of impromptu thoughts, stream-of-conscious proviso. I have removed the RSS feed, etc. To contact me, please msg via the usual route!

Reticulous.

November 10, 2007

For no discernable reason [other than my falling asleep at 8-ish last night], my internal alarm engaged super early this AM.

Must be time for something.

I am now wearing a swisher version of these and sipping on coffee.

Oh, I am in love with these booties. Yes, so in love.

Wonderfully intuitive in sorting out what a girl doesn’t need [but might want], Mrs. Adams gave me this as well, and I love the itsy letter bits.

On the productivity side, I finished three pages of halfway decent material this morning. Please excuse while I feel a little high and mighty just for a moment.

Okay, done.

Laura and Marc Andreessen have gifted $27.5 million to Stanford Hospital to upgrade the current emergency unit and fund the approval pending new state-of-the-art emergency facility for Palo Alto.

Swish indeed.

Friday evening, walked the Stanford grounds with a friend, poked at some Rodin statues, then din.

Thus far:

This weekend, Silicon Valley.

Monday finds me lunching with family.

Then it’s out to San Francisco for a din shindig my lovely friends have put together, followed by an evening spanner out. Drop in for Tuesday lunch with startup compadres, then a tour of the Oracle campus [swish!], followed by a STIRR event.

If possible, I will try and lifecast some of the Oracle tour. I know. :-)

Back to regular scheduled program, you.

Primping for the Crunchies

November 9, 2007

In preparation for the Crunchies, behold, the editor of Techcrunch + golden glow produced à la Pixoo. Not exactly newsworthy, but it had me in stitches long enough that I had to post it. The comments on the below link are even funnier.

Yes, George Hamilton. Scoot over, please.

And for my actor friends dealing with the Hollywood writers’ strike:

Got <3 for Tom Waits

Reading headlines, checking FB, packing shoes.
Sipping coffee in the brrr, currently listening:

Mishaps: missing a part to my SLR camera :( , cannot locate a rebellious external hard drive, black trench. Come back, coat, I must wear you!..

…..

New startup that I know some of you may find interest in: a natural language search engine! The startup is in private beta as of yday, and is Cambridge, UK-based. The story was broken by TechCrunchUK. [Yes, I do cite / link to plenty of Techcrunch coverage. Stories usually break there first.]
…..

I wanted to post a thing of beauty that unix friend Visnu made for me. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t do a proper copy / paste and my screen capture program is not performing. Grrr…

Separately, for the sake of clever wordplay, here is his nerdy ruby program:

So you have your Grammys, Emmys, Webbys, and now…appropriate drumroll, please…the Crunchies, an annual startup awards ceremony and party that Techcrunch has launched in partnership with GigaOm, Read/WriteWeb and Venturebeat.

“More details will be coming soon, but the idea is to let the community decide who to nominate, and who wins, in a number of award categories. And the whole thing will be topped off with a big award ceremony and party in San Francisco,” writes Michael Arrington. “Who are the most compelling startups of the year? We’ll know soon.”

The Techcrunch announcement may be found here.
